Who knew "Flame Core" would be even Ẃ̸̖͚Ȯ̶̦͖R̵̓̅ͅṠ̶̙E̵̻͛ in 2D? [Part 2]
Haha... you thought I forgot about this series, didn't you? This is the "exciting middle part" that I'm betting dollars to doughnuts you were hoping for... but this is 'SONIC 06' we're talking about here. This fan-made 2D recreation of the game only presented me with newer problems that the original 3D version never presented to it's players.
"Wait... 'newer problems'? What are you talking about, RTD?" ...is what you're probably asking me.
TWO words: "Flame. Core." That's it. I originally wanted to record my run of this stage without dying too much... but "Flame Core" as a stage interpreted in 2D doesn't pass as a Sonic Stage at all. Remember how I said that with every video (that isn't a visual novel) I release, I play them multiple times to make sure it don't mess any of my playthroughs too much? Well this stage ALONE took up loads of my time... practically 16 hours (4 nightly recordings done in 4 hours each) just to beat it. And I don't even want to consider the fact that my playthrough here was just a lucky coincidence...
...and if there's one thing I don't like about this recreation of the game, it's the sheer fact that it practically tests your patience. [Especially during bosses.]
When you're playing a classic sonic game, you're expected to fight bosses that challenge you (the player) as much as they challenge your ability to learn their patterns. And the one thing this remake did right was actually make Silver's Boss Fight more enjoyable than his notorious 3D counterpart. {The "Egg Genesis" get's credit where it's due, too. I gotta love those stunning 3D visuals for... an insanely easy boss.} But defeating Iblis felt like a massive joke to me... especially since he can not only break the platform you're standing on just by diving into it, but can SUMMON them without crashing into any walls OR even shooting fire at the ceiling... which can ALSO break the remaining platforms you stand on. I was able to get through it with enough patience, but even so... it took a lot of pressure just to beat a tapeworm version of Iblis down. [With dignity at stake... maybe?]
If you're still expecting me to post a link to this fan-game, even after all I've been through... then you're playing with fire. With "Tropical Jungle" being the stage I abruptly died in during the final moments of 'Part 2', there's literally no telling what I'll be going through next. So if you plan on sticking around for that final part, then look forward to seeing it a bit later this year. [Unless you somehow find this fan-game & play it for yourself, to which if you are... then you're SERIOUSLY torturing yourself. I mean, the original "Sonic 06" swapped the overall basis of the classic/adventure games for a buck-load of questionable level designs, lackluster character abilities (that barely have any proper hitboxes) & rage-inducing enemy placement that road-blocks progression, for crying out loud...]
