In this video guide tutorial I explain why so many "recommended" Steam Deck controller custom configurations are so bad, even when they have been created by the games original publisher or developer.
The answer is that for any games published before the Steam Deck appeared, unless they have been updated, don't actually have an "official" Steam Deck controller config - what you are seeing and using is a config created for the Steam Controller, a now discontinued device that doesn't match the controls on the Steam Deck.
I also show you how to fix the problem, in most cases by applying the "Gamepad With Joystick Trackpad" Config Gamepad Template.
