Why Does Mario Turn Into An Elephant?
572The Mario series has a long history of fun and creative power-ups, but Super Mario Bros Wonder does something different: it fully transforms Mario and his pals into elephants that can break blocks and spray water. Normally, these abilities are granted by suits, not full-on animal forms.
So where did this idea come from? Why choose an elephant in the first place? This short answers the question, with a direct quote from game director Shiro Mouri. It's actually pretty simple -- even if Shigeru Miyamoto wasn't a fan at first.
