We've tried Rennsport last year, but now it gears up for its first esports competition, and before it has been released! ESL R1 will herald a new type of sim racing competition, mixing existing drivers and teams with CS:GO outfits, in-person live events and online racing and a €500,000 prize pool.

Live online, including TikTok, the aim is to reach a new audience and expand all of the racing game scene by appealing to a younger audience. 20-minute races, no pitstops and a knock-out format.

It's fresh, it's different, but is there space alongside the professional sim racing events and community competitions? We'll find out when it kicks off 11th February from IEM Expo Katowice, part of the ESL Pro Tour.
