Pixel art is a medium defined by its limitations.

It developed out of necessity. Back in the day, computers simply didn’t have the processing power to display more than a few hundred pixels at a time. Early developers were restricted in what they could do, especially in the world of video games.

But, as time went on, this technology improved, to such an extent that now we can render out fully three dimensional environments so lifelike that it can be hard to tell the difference between it and real life.

Yet, there are still many people, especially recently, who’ve embraced the low resolution restrictions of those early days, and today, I want to talk about why.
