/QUICK OVERALL THOUGHTS\
I never played Sonic Unleashed for the PS2 or Wii for some reason, even though I probably should, but this port is for the most part pretty faithful to the original game. I still don't know how the physics compare to Sonic Unwiished however, because the level design is way more designed like an actual race track with a big emphasis on long winding roads and drifting. And while for the most parts, drifting works around corners when you slow down, some corners, particularly in Jungle Joyride and Eggmanland cannot be drifted around, no matter how slow you go.
Even with that problem, the levels are pretty fun to play and speedrun, though Sonic here looks (and feels) more unwieldly compared to the original Sonic Unwiished. Still, definitely a mod worth checking out and hope will get completed.
