Will Page | Eight Principles for Pivoting Through Disruption | Talks at Google
Will Page discusses his book "Tarzan Economics: Eight Principles for Pivoting Through Disruption", a stunning new insight into how the most crucial lesson you can learn in today’s challenging business environment is how to change the fundamentals of what you do, rather than carrying on fighting a battle that is already lost.
Music matters because it got there first. In its first decade of disruption it spent millions and lost billions fighting piracy. In the second, it applied Tarzan Economics, embracing streaming and set upon a success story that is the envy of everyone else. In this book, Page ties these principles together: a framework for letting go of the old vine and grabbing onto the new.
Will Page is the former Chief Economist of Spotify and PRS for Music, where he pioneered Rockonomics. At PRS he published work on Radiohead's ‘In Rainbows’ and saved BBC 6Music. At Spotify he helped redefine catalog, uncovered the anatomy of a hit and articulated the global value of music copyright. A passionate communicator, Will’s work is regularly featured in Billboard, The Economist and The Financial Times. More recently, he published "Malbeconomics: Taking Stock of the Twentieth Anniversary of the 9.99 Price Point". He is a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics and a fellow at the Royal Society of the Arts.
