9Welcome to Robot City , a game inspired by Isaac Asimov's series of books under the same name ... that limps hard , since this 2 CD game (yeah) that makes you wonder why it takes those 2 CDs??? (Its the audio compresion , if you wondering... it makes this 1995 game be 1.2 gigs ... and have overkill sound quality to make it future proof, by adding awful CD juggling )
So then why its Limping . You know how we talked about Old games being so padded to a point you needed to buy a hint book ... thiers way to recuperate from Piracy . Make games have obscure logic, that you can only complete by having the manual... or buying a hint book . Sierra knows a thing or two about this. Since they sold more hint books, then games... So then, when you see a game have a TXT ... a STEP BY STEP guide, to help you end the game, you know ... they failed at desing this game .
The story outline is :
Far from the 50 Spacer Worlds, your survival pod crashes on a planet where a secret experiment is taking shape. Robot City, an entire city built and ruled by robots. Without humans to command and supervise them, these robots have evolved their own ways of doing things. Their ideas of how to obey the Three Laws of Robotics might be a little different from yours. You soon learn that Robot City is out of control, that the only human who might know why has been murdered, and that you are the prime suspect.
The problem with is, you play with a step counter... to many of those, and you get GAME OVER... In a game that wants you to explore the city... but the map is random, so you can't map it... 3 tries and its Game over... when you have to explore to get 7 diary pages, a Murder Weapon, Explore maps, clues, Talk to robots... and end the game ... yeah, ouch
And you got a mess ... so you can save face by doing a Hint.txt at the CD, a patch that removes the step counter... or take all for a ride, and sell them a Hint Book for 3\4 the price of the game !!!!...
Guess what they did ... the TXT, since they knew not many will but this Niche game... to make a Hint Book be worth the hassle...
So then what you get in this video is a 3 hours of trying to pass this game 7 times ... without the added txt thing... Results, you can beat the game without it... yeah. Posting it all in the Comment Section so all can see the problems of this game... that could have been big, but the moment has passed...
