Wizkids- Some of the more interesting new releases from Nolzur's Marvelous Miniatures!
The prepainted D&D figures were what eventually led me back to tabletop games and actually picking up a brush for something other than plamo. One of my favorite things was as the WotC line continued on, more and more unique looking models got churned out. I tended to skip over the generic player character types, often grabbing the more outlandish monsters or the humans that tended to break out of the mold of the typical European- centric style of fantasy that dominates the market.
I'm glad to see the Wizkid line continuing along a similar path. Sure, there's the typical Caucasian heroes, as I'm sure that's the line's bread and butter, but to me the more interesting choices are when they start to look at other cultures for inspiration.
Not sure why diversity and inclusion are such hot button topics for some folks, but I say the more, the merrier. We've had a good 40+ years of European style fantasy and I doubt it's going away any time soon, but it's nice to see characters that can come from different origins.
It's also nice to be able to paint something more visually fresh. I hope we continue to see Wizkids continue down this path!
