Hello again.

We search for the epic gun, which looks like XCOM-built one. How in the world it did get in the hands of City 31's criminal gangs is another question.
And oh, it also has a mission around itself.

Ax'Omow was pardoned for his service in saving Kelly's ass out of that disaster and his Resistance assistance. So he's now fully free.
The first thing he did afterwards was to ask us to join XCOM as a technical specialist. While having this Muton is a decent help, and I did somewhat approve his request (unlike John, Zoe or Lena), I hope it doesn't open the floodgates for Kelly to exercise executive power over XCOM at large.

Because it sure did for the Shrike and the Reapers. Both blamed us for accepting aliens into our ranks - understandable, I'll say. It was really difficult to convince Zoe to stay, but with great difficulty from my part it was done.
Everything I'm going to do if it means resisting the orders of Kelly in order to stay here.

The victory turned out to be a hollow experience. What was supposed to become the grand achievement in my story became a quiet whimper - yes, we did destroy their commandship, but now we ran constant operations to protect any VIPs around, along with rebuilding Novosibirsk.
Many former ADVENT citizens found themselves being devoid of their usual ignorance in bliss, replaced by grim reality of wastes, blaming us for making their lives a lot worse. It definitely puts a lot of strain on yourself, when you have to guard some dumb fashion designer because Kelly ordered us to do so.

Food rations have become common everywhere, even in XCOM - we had to spare our own supplies to fuel those left in the cities, their demands be outrageously high. Unrest was rising, but the Shrike did deal with it somewhat. Economy system from ADVENT was dead in the water after the reveal of their atrocities, being replaced with barter for a time being. And lots of other stuff I'd prefer not to discuss today.

Sleeping has become difficult. I've found that life-or-death situations did keep me somewhat sane. But as guarding that whiny socjus designer was now my priority, and it was a trivial one to boot, I've found myself having nightmares, yet again...

The faces of those lost twenty-one years ago... Total destruction amidst of complete anarchy... Orbital bombardments, worldwide power shortage... People screaming for help while being mauled by Chryssalids... Plasma burns fill the air with their distinctive stench...

These are my memories, vividly resurrected. It was a pain in the ass to sunken them deep inside my subconscious, but at the moment it's absolutely impossible. What we could have done to protect them, if we knew what to do... But we didn't, it was a novelty for us back then.

Current generations of citizens didn't have to endure the pain we had suffered back then. Oh boy, they're in for a rude awakening in this shifting hellhole.

I'll try to keep myself in check, but if the nightmare continue, I'm probably going to speak to Richard to figure out what to do.
