The police officer at the time of the First Alien War, Roger lost all of his family. He was forced to continue his duties even when all hell broke loose. After the war he still was employed at the police department.
The war changed Roger from a cheerful and hopeful man to an extremely serious, angsty and no-humor one. While his efficiency rose, his methods became very cruel. Even his fellow colleagues questioned his actions. In newly formed Australasia he was fired because the government didn't need very angry policemen.
Roger, who then picked the nickname of Midnight, decided to spend the rest of his days working for SORESO base as a technician. When the Second Alien War was at its highest, XCOM suffered losses at the base. Midnight had nothing else to perform, so he decided to become a field operative instead of being just a technician. His anger fueled his purpose.
He hates aliens with a passion. He loved his family.
