Xenoblade Chronicles DE: Part 63: He Lives! Shulk's Resolve to Alvis
It was an utter shock that Shulk was shot by Dickson, his own foster parent. It was even more shocking that, through Zanza's will, he was never actually alive to begin with.
Or was he...?
Shulk was still somewhat alive through all of this. He was now lost in his own mind, trying to process everything that had happened to him and his life up to that critical point. Was it all of that in his life his own doing, or was it all just because Zanza allowed him to go through everything he did?
This was a question that Alvis had to confront him with...
----------
Fiora gazed at Shulk's resting body at Junks. He now longer how the Monado, but Fiora gave him a Monado Replica that was built by Miqol. Besides that, all she and the rest of Shulk's friends could do was wait for him to wakeup.
The terror Zanza caused towards the people of his Bionis had forced surviving Nopon and High Entia to take refuge in Otharon's Colony 6, which the Machina people of Junks are now also staying at.
The High Entia that survived were half-Homs just like Melia is, otherwise they would've all transformed into Telethia at this point. Nonetheless, Melia had to worry if even her Homs blood would eventually fail her against this "curse".
Indeed, Shulk was going to heal, but Fiora still couldn't "reach" him, so she and the others were forced to continue fighting without him.
Alvis made it clear to the group that their deaths, regardless of how they die, would me they will return to the Bionis and feed Zanza's essence, but the group were not going to accept the fact that their god can just pick them off as he pleased. They were willing to fight back against him no matter what it took.
Alvis wanted them to accept their fate as Homs, which nearly led to an arguement.
The situation was tense, so Fiora explored out to get some fresh air. Melia wanted to follow her.
----------
When Melia caught up to Fiora, Fiora realized that Melia knew that she was still quite uncomfortable in her Mechon body. However, it was more about how Fiora was being viewed in it rather than how she felt in it.
The device on her chest, which was energy from Meyneth's Monado, was used to fuel her new body, but she didn't know how long she'd be able to hold out with it, or how Shulk would feel about her in this state. At least for now, she had another chance to be with Shulk and fight alongside him.
She just didn't want anyone to worry about her right now, and Melia promised to keep that a secret, however... to Melia, herself, this made her realize even more about how much more Shulk cared for Fiora compared to her...
----------
The two girls suddenly saw themselves rushing back to the colony when an siren stormed through it. The Telethia were attacking!
And Dickson survived Kallian's final attack on him, he took the time to mock Melia over her brother, such as bringing up how they could be reincarnated with him being her boyfriend, instead.
----------
Back in Shulk's mind, he continued to talk with Alvis about his situation.
Zanza and Meyneth are gods, yes, but they must still rely on their own creations to prolong their existence. Zanza is currently trying to kill his own creations to consume them, and then he can reset the cycle he himself made by recreating them to eventually die and feed him once more.
Alvis had to raise a question to Shulk about why Zanza now wanted to kill him, the very same body that he used as a host? How Shulk was now a potential threat to Zanza's ability to exist, rather than the reason he could continue to exist.
Alvis wanted Shulk to realize, especially through his Visions, if his fate was truly predestined by his god, or if he had did have the ability to mostly change the future?
Should Shulk continue to walk down Zanza's path... or make his own...?
Shulk realized that he wanted to walk his own path, and this talk had to realize that there was much more Alvis than when he first met him...
----------
Back at Colony 6, everyone else, from Dunban to Riki to Fiora, and even Juju, continued to fight the Telethia. It seemed like they handled things well without Shulk, but Dickson knew they were wearing down. It seemed like they wouldn't be able to keep fighting for long...
But a beacon of light shined above them: Shulk was back! And he was ready took down Dickson's stronger Telethia!
----------
Even with a Monado Replica, the Sureny Telethia stood no match against it. Dickson was forced to call for more backup....
...and Alvis stepped forward... for he was the last of Zanza's three Disciples. Even then, Shulk was not upset, and struck down the Sani Telethia Alvis sent after him.
For now, it was time for him and Dickson to escape. Shulk had realized his fate with both of them... and with Zanza...
----------
In that night, everyone prepared for their final battle against Zanza. He was now inside of the Bionis, and they could enter into it through its chest.
