Xenoblade Chronicles DE: Part 7: Odd Jobs Around Colony 9
In a flashback, from 14 years ago, a group of Homs were in an expedition through a snowy mountain on the Bionis. They went through a door, and the next thing that happens is that a blue light appears from where the door is...
Later on, Dickson manages to reach this area, as well, but when he entered the room, he saw a lot of the Homs, lying on the floor... montionless...
They have all died... all except on young boy, who was simply knocked unconiously a was closest to the source of his group's death: The Monado.
Dickson decided to take back this young boy. His name? Shulk...
----------
Back in the present day...
Colony 9 had recently suffered against a terrible and sudden Mechon invasion. Many lives were lost, including Dunban's little sister and Shulk's sweetheart, Fiora...
With Dunban once again bedridden, and Shulk taking up the Monado into his own hands, he and Reyn have sworn revenge on the Mechon, especially the huge black one named Metal Face, the one that killed Fiora.
They decided that their first goal was to reach the only other surviving Homs colony, Colony 6. They may have the key to helping them find and defeat Metal Face.

But this video is focus more on me just... enjoying the game.
You don't just have to follow the storyline as closely as possible. You can brake off from it to do some other things. Hunt down some enemies and do some quests.
You don't just gain EXP that levels you up, you also gain AP (Art Points), and SP (Skill Points).
Art Points can be used to upgrade your characters' attacks, though you'll need special books to keep upgrading them past Level IV.
Skill Points are used to build up certain passive Skills each character can learn from one of their Skill Trees. Take great care to keep monitoring these trees and swap them as you see fit for the Skills you're going after.

Quests are frequent and abundant in this game. Ones to start will have the white "!", while ones to follow and accomplish will have a red "!".
Most Quests are automatically finished after fulfilling their citeria, such as collecting a certain number of items or defeating a certain number of enemies. Some quests will require you to return to the client that gave you the Quest, and others require a bit of back and forth.
Not everyone will be available to start or finish the give quest at the same time, so you'll have to check and change the time to get them to show up.
One Quests I liked is the one in Colony 9 where Shulk uses his engineering skills to fix a watch at the Weapons Development Lab for a lady named Désirée, before returning it to her to complete the Quest.
Most Quests aren't necessary to finish the game, but they can help with getting free EXP, AP, SP, and Gold. However, some Quests with a watch on them mean they can eventually be gone forever if you don't finish them at some point through the story.

At 11:00, I show off some Gem Crafting. Certain materials you pick up can be used to make Gems, and the Gems can be installed onto equipment and weapons that have slots in them (assuming they are "Unique" and already have Gems set in place).
The outcome of the Crafting process depends on that materials you use for it, and the pair characters and their roles for the process. Someone has to be a Shooter, while someone else has to be an Engineer.

This video has me finish by going towards Tephra Cave's entrance. There's a path in there that will lead towards the Bionis' Leg, and eventually Colony 6...
