Xeno'jiiva Save Corrupt Bug Explained | Monster Hunter World (PC)
There's been people talking about that defeating Xeno'jiiva could lead to your game crashing to desktop and leading to your game save files being corrupted.
The famous Xeno'jiiva Save Corrupt Bug.
Well, actually... there technically isn't a bug. But rather it's an oversight by Capcom - they thought everyone uses Windows 10 and missed out the possibility that there could be people still using Windows 7 (like me). The cause of the bug appears to be that your PC doesn't have the right software and codecs to play the cutscene. The said software is the Windows Media Player that Windows 10 uses (weird I know... aren't we all using the same Windows Media Player 12? But the game seems to insist that we have Windows 10).
To solve this?
For Windows 10 users - install your Windows Media Player. If you have Windows Media Player, update the player's codec.
If you want a link, here's one that leads to the page that contains the software: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/mediafeaturepack
For Windows 7 users... there appears to be no workaround. So, just upgrade to Windows 10. Or we can hug it out and weep together.
