Xtreme Pickups - Semi-Untested NEC Turbo Duo Console Overview & Testing
Recently got this rare console, it is the NEC Turbo Duo which was a TurboGrafx 16 & TurboGrafx CD console conveniently combined into 1 unit. Won an auction after bidding last second for a really good price compared to what these usually go for, if you even see one working on eBay. It was Semi-Untested because while it did power on, the guy had no video cable for it but did try to at least hear audio via the headphone jack. This console was released in 1992 by a division formed by NEC called Turbo Technologies Inc as a last effort to squeeze more life out of the TurboGrafx 16 which was a big failure in the US, complete opposite of how successful it was in Japan where it was known as the PC Engine. This particular unit was released as the PC Engine Duo in Japan in 1991. This was something I had wanted for a while now because I think the design is really nice and sleek and the idea of having both TurboGrafx Hu Card games and CD games playable on 1 unit is a cool thing, especially compred to the bulky nature of the original TurboGrafx 16 with the separate components of the CD addon, System Boot Card, and Docking Station which I have shown in previous videos. I'm debating which version I'd like to keep? Anyway, in this video I unbox the contents, talk about the console itself, then test some games on it. Enjoy!
