I'm a huge fan of 90s "collect-a-thons" so it would be no surprise that Banjo-Kazooie (and yes, Banjo-Tooie, as well) is one of my all-time favorite games. Yooka-Laylee feels like the spiritual successor, mainly because it is.
But Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair takes a slightly different approach, making it more of a sidescrolling 2.5D adventure and less of a collect-a-thon. I'm not completely convinced of the idea, but it does work a stellar job of a sidescroller. So all is not lost.
