This is video #08 in my playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX for the GameBoy Color. This video contains commentary. To view the non-commentary version, click here: https://youtu.be/n8E_zaWReeY

Previously, Link made his way east as far as the Animal Village. It is close to Yarna Desert, where he will find the key to the next dungeon. However, a lazy walrus is blocking the path into the desert. According to the Animal Village inhabitants, the walrus may move if it hears Marin's song, so Link has now gotten her to follow him.

East of Mabe Village, Link uses the warp holes to travel to Animal Village (time 0:40). Of course, he has to have discovered the Animal Village warp hole first, or he would have a long walk ahead of him. Anyway, most of the village's beastly inhabitants are delighted to see Marin.

South of the village, Link takes Marin to the lazy walrus blocking the path to Yarna Desert (time 2:31). The walrus is so happy, he leaps into the water! Then, an Animal Village bunny comes along and asks Marin to spend some time with him. Cool.

As for Link, he travels on into the Yarna Desert (time 3:32). Not a terribly big desert.

A few screens north, he runs into a Lanmola (time 3:49). This creature is another boss recycled from A Link to the Past, but fortunately there is only one this time. Look out for the quicksand, which will draw Link in towards the center. Strike the Lanmola as it emerges from the sand. When defeated, it will drop the Angler Key!

Link falls into the cave below after the battle. He can blast through the northern wall (time 4:36). In the chamber to the north, he finds Piece of Heart #07!

After leaving the cave, he will be one screen east of where he fought the Lanmola (time 5:08). An owl statue there will dispense some more cryptic advice.

On the upper plateau a few screens south, Link will arrive at the far southeastern corner of the island (time 5:41). Secret Seashell #18 is hidden under one of the boulders.

As Link heads away from the Lanmola's quicksand, the owl will flutter down to deliver another clue (time 6:32). Link must now go to the mountain waterfall on Tal Tal Heights to reach the dungeon entrance.

After leaving the desert, Link will find Malon providing a concert for the inhabitants of Animal Village (time 7:09). How lovely!

Anyway, Link then uses the warp holes to make his way northeast to Tal Tal Heights (time 7:54). This is far to the east of the Level 2 dungeon entrance. Facing a waterfall is the keyhole that takes the Angler Key (time 8:12). When Link puts it in, the waterfall is stopped, and the entrance to Level 4 opens! However, like Level 3, Link will have to go a long way around to reach the dungeon entrance.

A few screens west, he climbs Mount Tamaranch and enters the blocked-off cave (time 8:51). After climbing the second stairway, he will need to use the Pegasus Boots to mow down the barricades near the cave exit. In the next screen to the east, he will find the eastern exit to the Tal Tal Mountain Range (time 9:52). He is now out on the other side of the barrier from a chest that he opened earlier.

On the next screen, he finds a cave entrance (time 10:05). That is not all; Papahl from Mabe Village is stranded on the cliff above! Link must wade through the cave to get to him. The chest on the cave's second level just contains a Green Zol.

Link emerges from the cave system on the same screen as the Hen House (time 10:42). South and west from there, he will find the stranded Papahl. As he predicted, the hapless father got lost, and now he is starving. Being the good samaritan he is, Link hands over the Pinapple he got when he gave the Honeycomb to the bear chef in Animal Village. In gratitude, Papahl gives link the Hibiscus. As I recall, someone in Animal Village wants this.

On the screen north of Papahl, Link can go down a level via the gap in the railing (time 11:56).

To the east of Papahl, there will be clear ground where the waterfall above Level 4 used to come out (time 12:06). By hopping down here, Link can access the Level 4 entrance!

Link has finally reached Level 4: Angler's Tunnel (time 12:17). Sort of the Water Temple for this game, but it is not quite that difficult to navigate. Much of this dungeon is waterlogged, and Link cannot yet swim through the darker sections of water. There are more shelled guys to knock over, so prepare the Shield.

North and east from the entrance, a chest contains the Compass (time 12:52). Notice how the floor tiles here subtly point to the northeast.

In the room to the south, Link can slash the barricades to access a chest with a Small Key (time 13:31).

Back in the room north of the entrance, Link climbs to the upper level. A couple of rooms to the east, he can grab this dungeon's Stone Beak from the chest (time 14:14).

A few screens north from there, he finds the chest containing the Map (time 14:37).

Description continued in the comments.
