This is video #07 in my playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX for the GameBoy Color. This video does not contain commentary. To view the commentary version, click here: https://youtu.be/OakpmauCH_o

Previously, Link cleared Level 3: Key Cavern. Now, it is time to find a way to the next dungeon, which is supposedly behind a waterfall.

As Link leaves the grounds of the Key Cavern, the owl flutters down to speak to him (time 0:20). The owl advises him to head to Yarna Desert next. All righty.

Link makes his way back towards the northeast, stopping for a phone call with Ulrira. Apparently, Yarna is in the far southeast of the island.

South of Kanalet Castle and the Seashell Mansion, there is a bush hiding a tunnel entrance (time 1:57). On the second screen of this path, the exit is only accessible if you have the Pegasus Boots. It deposits Link on the eastern side of the river.

Link first travels north and then east to the Face Shrine area. When he can turn north, he finds a bombable entrance to a fairy fountain in the area (time 2:57).

In the northeast of the area, there is an owl statue with some unsettling words (time 3:40).

To the south, much of the Face Shrine area is desert-like ruins. Look out for the tough Armos statues. By circling around south, west, west, north, and east, he will reach the western section of an area with two rows of statues (time 4:50). Moving the southeast Armos statue in this section reveals a cave where Link can find Secret Seashell #14.

After backtracking to the exit of the tunnel he used to cross the river (time 6:24), Link continues south. The entrance to Animal Village is two screens south of the tunnel, but Link continues on.

On an island in Martha's Bay, there is an owl statue that speaks of bridges and secrets (time 7:17). Directly to the west of the statue, Link can dig up Secret Seashell #15.

Then, Link heads back and enters Animal Village (time 8:01). This is a charming town inhabited by talking animals, and they like Marin. Yarna Desert is to the south, but evidently there is a walrus that likes to block the way.

From the southwest screen of the village, Link can head out to the "East of the Bay" area (time 9:14). South and then east, he finds the area bordering on Yarna Desert, but as predicted, it is blocked by a walrus. A walrus that mentions Marin in his sleep. Hm...

Back in the village, one rabbit mentions that Mabe Village has a Dream Shrine that contains something good. Sounds like we'll be heading back there soon. One female animal that is writing a letter is interested in hibiscuses. In the southeast section of town, a bear chef is interested in honey.

Link heads out the town's southeast exit (time 11:28). By wading through the pond, he can find another warp hole! This really cuts down on the time to transit back to Mabe Village.

North and west of the Level 3 entrance, Link can dislodge Secret Seashell #16 by ramming into the tree next to the phone booth (time 11:51).

East and north of the Ukuku Prairie warp hole, Link goes into a cave entrance he bombed open earlier (time 12:24). He can now mow down the green barricades with the Pegasus Boots. The chest in the east of the southern screen contains 50 Rupees. In the northern screen, Link can bomb the corner of the eastern-most section of wall to obtain Piece of Heart #06.

Then, one screen to the east, Link can find Tarin lurking at the base of a tree with a honeycomb (time 13:48). He asks to borrow the Stick that Link got from the Monkeys. If Link hands it over, Tarin will get himself in deep doodoo with the bees! Ha ha! After Tarin runs off, Link can get the Honeycomb that is left behind.

Back in Mabe Village, Link next checks out the Dream Shrine north of the item shop (time 14:56). He needs the Bracelet just to enter. When he goes to sleep, he winds up in a strange maze with strange creatures. Fortunately, he can just dash through with the Pegasus Boots and the Sword. He must simply go around the outside of the maze.

From the southeast screen, Link can climb up to find a chest containing 100 Rupees (time 16:03).

After mowing down the green barricade, Link can reach a chest containing the Ocarina in the northwest screen (time 16:19). Not as fancy as the Ocarina of Time, but it will do. There are actually multiple songs to be learned in this game. Exiting the maze from here is pretty simple.

Then, by the weathervane, Link talks to Marin (time 16:50). Noticing Link's Ocarina, she will teach him to play the 'Ballad of the Wind Fish.' This is the song he will eventually need to wake up the Wind Fish.

Description continued in the comments.
