ZENITH VR - A bare bones foundation for future greatness // Zenith VR Oculus Quest 2 Impressions
424Zenith The Last City is the first large scale VR MMO that has really caught my attention, there have been a few previous (and mostly unsuccessful) attempts to bring VR players together like this but Zenith VR looks perfectly positioned to be the first to achieve this goal butis Zenith worth it right now? This has been the most successful launch of the new Quest 2 games so far in 2022 and it's even managed to secure a top seller spot on Steam with over 1,000 reviews just 4 days after launch, a hugely impressive feat for a VR game. However after playing the alpha, beta and now full release I can't help but feel the game is a little bare bones as an RPG with poor character customisation, unsatisfying combat & some uninspired weapon/gear unlocks there is a lot of room for Zenith VR to grow and flourish into the amazing VR game it's destined to be.
This isn't a Zenith VR review as that would require me to play the game for countless more hours to reach end game, this is more of a Zenith VR first impressions and observations discussion, the game has incredible potential with a wonderfully realised world, amazingly welcoming community & some slick VR controls/systems but I can't help but imagine just how good the game will be after some additional fine tuning & updates. If you're looking for a social experience with a lengthy RPG element attached then you'll be sure to have a great time with Zenith VR in its current state but if you're looking for an RPG that lets you truly craft a unique character and play with your own unique style/approach then Zenith currently falls a little short. It really is a solid bare bones foundation for future greatness.
