Zombies Ate My Neighbors is one tough game difficulty-wise but its concept seems interesting in many aspects such as different kinds of hostages you're supposed to save, different kinds of enemies that can pose danger to you and the hostages and the variety of items and weapons you can use. The rules in this game are unlike the standard rules of other games in which letting a hostage get caught by the enemies will decrease the total amount of hostages you'll save in the later stages. So if you let one of 10 hostages get caught by enemies for instance, you'll have 9 hostages to save in later stages.

The Genesis version takes you some time to get used to the controls as it uses 3 buttons as opposed to 5 in SNES version.
