More 2D packing puzzles! My 14th short of my 30 shorts in 30 days challenge is on the 5 L box designed by Jürgen Reiche.
My version here is the acrylic variation. The goal is to fit all the 5 L shaped pieces into the frame. The special trick with this puzzle is that the frame has 4 protrusions at the corners, and these small little bits makes this puzzle so much more difficult! It is rated as a Level 9 difficulty puzzle.
And of course putting it in the obvious way where everything is perpendicular to the frame will not work. Another great design that plays with our assumption that these L shapes with right angled corners should be placed in an orderly manner.
To solve this puzzle, one have to approach this from a different angle (pun intended).
