Different people have much, much different ways to play Factorio, but a method that's always worked for me as been to set up the central area that handles both iron and copper, and keep both streams going like rivers of resources throughout the base.
We'll be doing our best to keep up that design philosophy as we proceed deeper into the game, it works better than some strategies. I'm sure there's ways to optimize it, but hey, I know I can get to the endgame like this.
