2016 Acura TLX | 5 Reasons to Buy | Autotrader
At one point, Acura had two entry-level sedans: the compact TSX and the roomy TL. But do you really need two when one will do? The 2016 Acura TLX replaces both models, and with its just-right size, you get most of the TL's luxury and the TSX's agility. Combining the best of both worlds, we have five reasons why Acura's on the right track.
Distinctive Styling
It's pretty much confirmed that Acura created some controversy with the most recent TL's styling. Specifically, the bionic beak grille sparked lots of opinions, and had many people questioning why Acura had departed from its tasteful norm. But the TLX leaves all of that in the dust. This is a head-turning car, from its jewel-like headlights to its classy LED taillights. It's easy on the eyes all the way around.
Two Appealing Powertrains
Even though the base TLX inherits the TSX's 2.4-liter 4-cylinder, it has a nice new transmission: a dual-clutch automated manual. The standard shift paddles make the most of the engine's 206 horses. If that isn't enough, the available V6 pumps out 290 hp through a 9-speed automatic. They are fuel efficient too, returning 35 miles per gallon on the highway with the 4-cylinder and 34 mpg with the V6.
Nimble Handling
Without question, the TLX delivers confidence on tight roads. The 4-cylinder trim is only available with front-wheel drive, but is not as heavy as the V6 in the nose, so it feels more responsive. Still, the TLX V6 more than holds its own with Honda's optional Super Handling All Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system, which eliminates understeer by sending power side-to-side as well as front-to-back. All in all, it's refreshing to see Acura getting back to its sporty roots.
Great Seats
Acura has done some homework because in recent years, their seats have been stellar. A 10-way power driver's seat comes standard on the TLX, and it delivers Volvo-type support. Rear passenger space is more than sufficient, even though the TLX is smaller than the old TL. Whether a driver or passenger, the TLX is comfortable and pleasing.
More Features for the Money
Just like every Acura, the TLX has a ton of standard features, including automatic climate control, Bluetooth and dual display screens that allow you to multitask on the road. The Technology package adds an excellent ELS stereo and safety features including lane-departure warning. When comparing value, the TLX gives you more than its European rivals, and it will offer a better resale value when you're ready to move on.
Autotrader Says
The 2016 Acura TLX is a beautiful blend of the TSX and TL and, of course, its own little touch. Acura is in the game with the TLX, and now is the time to get to your dealer.
