2016 Chevrolet Volt | 5 Reasons to Buy | Autotrader
It is just a matter of time until hybrids and electric cars rule the roads. Eco-friendly cars are here to stay, and we have five reasons why you'll definitely want to check out the second-generation 2016 Chevrolet Volt, which runs on both electric and gas.
Miles Per Fill-Up
While the masses are constantly swiping at the pump, the Volt rarely sees gas stations. It has an unbelievable 420-mile range with a full charge and a full tank. It is Environmental Protection Agency-rated at 42 miles per gallon combined, and its two electric motors work in unison to maximize efficiency.
Plug-In Capable
The Volt is quite unique in that it's considered an electric car with a back-up plan: It runs for roughly 50 miles on an electric charge, and when the initial battery is depleted, the gas engine takes over, primarily providing electricity to keep the car moving. You can fully recharge in about 4.5 hours with 240 volts or 13 hours with a 120-volt power source.
Money Saver
When talking bucks, you'll have a few to spare thanks to the Chevy Volt. This hybrid electric plug-in saves dollars in more ways than one. Starting at around $33,000, the Volt is a great value. In addition, Chevy expects its owners to go more than 1,000 miles between fill-ups if they charge regularly, seriously cutting fuel costs.
Updated Styling
It's pretty safe to say that hybrids aren't known to turn heads, but the Volt has a sporty sedan vibe that definitely sparks an interest. Standard LED running lights and 17-inch alloy wheels give it a contemporary feel. It's a hatchback, but you wouldn't necessarily know it from its sleek proportions.
Safe, Comfy Cabin
Chevy takes safety seriously, and the Volt has no shortcomings when it comes to safety features. This model comes standard with the OnStar emergency communications system, which has an emergency assist button along with an array of others. It's fairly smooth and quiet behind the wheel, and the user-friendly controls keep you focused on the road ahead.
