Subaru has a great overall lineup, and in the crossover department, the Crosstrek is definitely making some noise. We've nailed down five reasons why the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek adds some excitement and youth to the great Subaru brand.
All-Wheel Drive
All-wheel drive is an amazing capability, and it comes standard in the Crosstrek, making the deal that much sweeter. The crossover returns 29 miles per gallon in combined driving with the continuously variable automatic transmission, delivering 148 horsepower with the regular drivetrain and 160 hp in the hybrid version. So either on or off the pavement, the Crosstrek is ready for an adventure.
Subaru Safety
The Crosstrek offers an array of protection and earned a rating of five out of five stars overall in government crash-testing. The Limited trim level features a blind spot monitoring system and Starlink telematics safety technology, which brings stolen-vehicle recovery and other reassuring features. A rearview camera comes standard on all Crosstrek models.
Road-Trip Ready
Whether you're on the go around town or hitting the highway for a trip, the Crosstrek is up for it. Loading up, you'll find almost 52 cu ft. with the rear seats folded completely flat. There are also standard roof rails for additional space. And once you're on the road, you'll be glad to have perfect 50/50 front and rear power distribution to the standard 17-inch alloys, as well as higher ground clearance than most rivals.
Impressive Interior
Subaru believes less is more, and that's exactly how they designed the Crosstrek's cabin. A simple control layout complements the standard 6.2-in Subaru Starlink interface, which comes with hands-free Bluetooth and USB connectivity. The Premium trim level even has heated seats and a cool leather-wrapped steering wheel. This is an interior that offers easy, accessible controls.
Reasonable Pricing
The Crosstrek comes at a price point that rivals can't match. Starting at $21,600, you get Subaru value without breaking the bank. Even the Limited model starts around $25,000, while the base-level hybrid version is around $26,400. These are fantastic numbers for a go-anywhere type of car.
Autotrader Says:
It hasn't been around as long as the Forester or the Outback wagon, but the Subaru Crosstrek is a fun compact crossover that might be here to stay. Put the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek on your test-drive list, and get ready to explore new roads.
