The 2019 Bulgari Octo Finissimo Chronograph GMT is the 2019 GPHG Chronograph prize winner. With a 42mm titanium case that's only 6.9mm thick, this is the world record holder as the thinnest automatic chronograph. By combining a chronograph with a dual time (GMT) complication, Bulgari has created a supremely wearable and useful men's watch.
The Octo Finissimo Chronograph is built around a sand-blasted titanium dial featuring time, chronograph registers, and a 24-hour GMT dial at three o'clock. Bulgari provides a pusher at nine o'clock to advance the local hour hand when traveling. A full titanium bracelet flanks the distinctive creases of the Bulgari Octo case.
Inside that shapely case, a Bulgari manufacture caliber BVL 318 provides automatic winding courtesy of a platinum peripheral rotor system borrowed from the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Tourbillon.
The 55-hour power reserve is impressive for a movement that's only 3.3mm thick; a traditional column wheel chronograph selector provides equally impressive chronograph mechanism feel. The 37-jewel movement measures over 37mm in diameter to fill the caseback of this landmark chronograph watch.
A full balance bridge better braces the balance wheel and adds structural rigidity to the movement. Water resistance of the Bulgari Octo Finissimo Chronograph is 30 meters.
