The 2019 H. Moser & Cie Pioneer Perpetual MD Burgundy is a 50-piece limited edition sports watch complication in stainless steel. This Moser features a 42.8mm diameter Pioneer case with a screw-down crown. For the first time, an H. Moser & Cie perpetual calendar has been constructed with a month wheel rather than a pointer indicator.
Moser's Pioneer sports watch offers 120-meter water resistance, a large dial, and robustly luminescent hands with Super Luminova. The burgundy sunburst gradient dial makes its Moser brand debut on this perpetual calendar.
Inside the 42.8mm case, a Moser caliber HMC 808 manual wind movement keeps the time. With two mainspring barrels, the power reserve is 7 days, but that's just the chronometric power reserve; absolute endurance is closer to nine days. The power reserve indicator on the dial keeps track of remaining mainspring energy, and the perpetual calendar indications can be set forward and backward to correct the calendar.
On the caseback, a leap year indicator sits atop the rhodium-plated brass of the plates. This manufacture movement includes a full balance bridge and a free sprung balance for shock resistance, and the hairspring is a hand-formed Breguet overcoil fabricated by Moser's Schaffhausen subsidiary, Precision Engineering. The beat rate is 18,000 vibrations per hour, and the balance has been constructed with an immense moment of inertia.
