While it is well known that Missingno. and 'M will increase the sixth when item quantity by 128 when encountered by the player (unless there are already 128 items or more in that position), it is isn't so well known that there is an extension that allows the player to duplicate many items at once at a small cost, though this is only really practical if you intend to obtain thousands of items.

If the player has 255 of an item in a certain slot, tossing the item above it will replace it with the same item x255 but this will reduce the number of items by 1 (and make the new bottom item act like Cancel), so it's a good idea to hold an item you're willing to lose in the bottom slot.

255 items in the sixth position can be obtained by:

1) Performing the Old Man/Missingno. glitch and encountering 'M / Missingno. when less than 128 items are in the sixth position.
2) Escaping and tossing the sixth item quantity so you have 127 items in the sixth item position remaining. You can also use the item twice (e.g. if it's a Pokéball) and capture the 'M / Missingno. to get 255 items from 127 earlier.
3) If you didn't use the capture method, you can encounter another 'M / Missingno. when you have 127 items to get 255 items in that position.

Once there are 255 items, consider this item pack:
1)Potion
2)Antidote
3)Protein
4)Ether
5)Revive
6)Rare Candy x255
7)Full Restore
8)Elixer
9)Max Revive

If we toss item #5, we get another stack of 255 Rare Candies there occupying its new position, but item #9 is lost and acts like Cancel. We can repeat the trick and e.g. toss item #4 above 255 Rare Candies at item #5 to replace Ether but lose item #8, Ether. You can get an ordinary Cancel button back by finding/withdrawing a new item, or buying another item.
