3 Glitchy Passwords in NES Games - A Wild Glitch Appears!
964Remember how old games used to implement a password system so you could record your progress? Sometimes those games weren't equipped to handle every possible password a player could come up with. Here are three NES games with passwords that cause strange, glitchy effects:
In Bomberman for the NES, entering the password BOEFEFGKEFABOLMNJPPF will cause the player to start on a level that looks like "03" but is using a character not part of our alphanumeric system. In this level, Bomberman and the enemies can walk through breakable walls, and you will be immune to bomb blasts.
Furthermore, the level doesn't seem to be entirely stable, since strange graphics will appear on screen, and often the game will slow down and crash with some awesome sound effects!
In Tecmo Bowl, if you enter the password 3C3F7FA5, the game will choose a team for you that does not exist in the game. This causes your team to be "invisible," and all of your players will be incredibly strong and fast.
If you don't score a touchdown on the kickoff, your playbook will comprise glitched out graphics, and getting those plays to work will be incredibly difficult.
Lastly, in the NES version of Rambo, enter ALL ZEROES for your password. When your game begins, you will have nearly 1000 experience, a nearly full loadout of weaponry, and a screen full of indecipherable garbage graphics, and the game will be basically unplayable!
