Gameplay of the final boss Goemon in the arcade fighting game Shogun Warriors.

Here's another oddity of a game to cover before I start getting into the more interesting titles. Shogun Warriors is a rather blatant Street Fighter II clone (eight regular playable characters, four bosses, lifebars, two-round fights, etc.) with the one exception that's mostly based on figures and archetypes from Japanese history and mythology. The final of the four bosses in Goemon, a legendary thief who was essentially the Japanese Robin Hood, except he was actually real. After attempting and failing to assassinate Daimyo Hideyoshi during the latter part of the Warring States period in Japan, he was actually killed by being boiled alive in oil.

As a character, he's been made (like Benkei, also in this game) to be akin to a giant, hulkish individual who relies on physical power over magic. This game is pretty damn difficult (and also just not very interesting), so I did these videos with an infinite health cheat on just to get them over with. Shogun Warriors is a definite relic of the early 90s fighting game boom, and really nothing to write home about, hence covering it is definitely for the sake of thoroughness, and not a whole lot more.
