A playthrough as the unplayable character Honey the Cat in sixfortyfive's boss hack of Sonic the Fighters.

(Honey has the same moveset as Knuckles, with a few of Amy's moves thrown in as well)

Certainly the most interesting unused character, Sega attempted to implement Honey as a bonus character, in order to cement the link between FV and it being the inspiration for Sonic the Fighters. And as Sonic and Tails never made the cut in FV, so Honey never made the cut in Sonic the Fighters. It's like poetry you see; they rhyme. It's still a colossal disappointment though.

Honey's moveset isn't anything to write home about, seemingly just a combination of the movesets of Knuckles and Amy. She was originally going to have her own stage (believed to be called Sunset Town, check out the OST track for it, it's really good) though no traces of that have been found, so it's difficult to know if she would have ended up as a bonus fight, or a time-release character. Most of her animations are complete, and it appears she was rather late in development in terms of design. She appears to have been scrapped because of a design-flaw due to her eyes; sometimes they'll focus on the screen itself, and at other times the pupils of her eyes will just completely disappear altogether. How they managed to make this mistake after already having programmed ten other characters is anyone's guess. Sega did seem downright cursed during the mid-90s though, so it's really not too much of a surprise. Due to being such a unique character, Honey was made playable in the 2012 digital releases of the game, so at least there's some sense of closure to be had. She was removed in the (extremely lazy) port of Sonic the fighters released in 2005 on the Sonic Gems Collection, but her leftover data tipped of hackers as to the true extent of unused characters in the game itself.
