In this video I look at 5 base design features that can take a simple starter base and make it much harder to raid and even deter those roam raiders from even picking on your base to start with.

No matter what design or size base you're using, these features apply to any and all bases. Working to make your base appear to be much harder to raid and in the event that you are raided, should show the raiders early on that it’s going to be a difficult and costly raid.

These features when combined with a small base design like a 2x2, can make your base extremely robust with minimal footprint required, meaning your base should blend in to most and for those who do pay your base attention - should lead the raiders to assume that there’s no profit to be made for the cost of the raid materials.

I cover topics from basic to slightly more thoughtful base design and upgrade strategies that should allow you to apply them to whatever base you’re currently working with.

Ideally if you’re using a 2x1 base design or a 2x2 base design and you’re a solo, duo or trio - then these base features will definitely allow you and your team to apply quick upgrades and get on with the rest of the wipe knowing you’ve put down a strong base quickly.

Rust is an open world survival game available on PC and in Beta on Console (Xbox and PlayStation). The goal of the game is to design and build bases, gather resources and defend your loot against other players, groups and zergs. Play through the primitive early game and make it to end-game PVP with tier 3 weapons over the span of a wipe.

Building bases of any size, 2x1, 2x2, 3x3 for groups, trios, duos or solo’s is a difficult challenge as there are so many tutorials on base designs and youtuber designs such as those by Evil Wurst - as such it’s good to go on build servers and practice your own loot rooms, bunkers, airlocks, storage, box sorting, furnace rooms and your own ways to protect your tool cupboard and components. This way you can find your own ways to put down a base that can grow into a big compound base with gate entrances, shooting floors and auto turrets.
