Here is my full playthrough of Super Bomberman 2 on SNES done live on IGTV. The final world (5) was done while a friend mixed music in the background, For copyright reasons Ive had to remove the audio from that section.

Follow me on instagram @CabinSNES_fever to join me live or via my reviews and uploads to witness me take down all the games currently in my SNES colleciton, following on from having already beaten all 234 licenced UK releases for the NES. I only use original carts and no cheats.

REVIEW:
-Despite being a standout franchise for many decades across multiple systems, till yesterday I'd never actually beaten any of the series. Infact I cant recall ever even playing a single player campaign, besides the excellent Wario Blast for Gameboy. I think its fair to assume when most people think of Bomberman, they picture multiplayer combat. It was enough to propel the 4-way mulitap into fame as early as the SNES, with later incarnations on Saturn doubling the carnage offering 8-player mayhem!

Incredibly there were actually 6 entries on the SNES, tho only the first 3 made it out of Japan. Given their similarities I'm not too concerned. Of the 3 that made it here, the jury appears out on which was the best? I've settled for 2 & have little intention of adding anymore. Perhaps that's a little hasty?

I cant speak for all incarnations but here, the single player mode more then outshines the slightly more tiresome aspects accustomed to the repetitive nature of previous incarnations (at least compared to Wario Blast). With only 5 worlds each offering 6 stages & a boss, it's hardly the longest game but the challenge is respectable all the same. While powerups obtained do transfer between level, when a life is lost it's a different matter; sacrificing all special items collected as well as a hit to your bomb & range stats. Stages that seem incredibly easy when swaggering around boasting all the best powerups such as remote mines, speed skates & wall walking, suddenly become far more serious after being stripped back to the basics. Thankfully infinite continues from the stage you're on allow for a more casual playthrough, however be warned because a password only spawns you from the beginning of the world, demanding that each world must be played through in one sitting. Its not the tallest of orders given my history, but perhaps a more sizable one(especially world 5), to the more causal gamer.

Bosses present only mild concern until the final showdown, from where things get considerably harder than they first seem, tho later become rather easier once you eventually (in my case eeeeeeeevenutally ) work out a successful pattern of attack.
