#1 Axelay - Full Playthrough (Normal Mode) - Beating My Snes Games
Here is my full playthrough Axelay on Normal Mode live on IGTV.
Follow me on instagram @CabinSNES_fever to join me live or via my reviews and uploads to witness me take down all the games currently in my SNES colleciton, following on from having already beaten all 234 licenced UK releases for the NES. I only use original carts and no cheats.
REVIEW:-Less than a week into the cold sweats & shivery withdrawal of beating hard games, the phantom twitching of thumbs & insatiable choke hold these games have over me became too strong to resist a return to the battlefield. This time I lock horns with the NES's younger brother.Firstly, let's set the records straight. This WILL NOT BE a 'beating every snes game' Sceanrio as it was with the SNES! I dont own every snes game, UK or otherwise and have intention of changing that! What I do have, is a pretty fine selection of what I consider to be many of the best games on the system, including a number of exclusive NTSC imports. I only own FF3(aka FF6) & the Megaman X series on playstation however, so that may or may not come later, who knows?I will be taking down over 150 games I currently own, but the library is always growing! As before, all will be taken on live whenever possible on Instagram & thanks to the improved IGTV, I will aim to upload complete playthroughs or full final levels in posts to accompany each review, though as before, final boss fights will be clipped up into the review pics.Right, that doesn't leave me much room to discuss game #1; Axelay. This was the first game I ever owned in 16-bit along with Contra 3 and by God did it blow me away! Jumping from the primitive 8-bit colour palettes of Super Mario & Double Dragon to the richness of this was like waking up in some alien future! Colour, spitework, sound, gameplay everything is just so perfectly presented that the aesthetics remain, even today; a pilar of modern indy gaming!Axelay is not only one of the greatest shumps on the system (albeit not blessed with that many), but it's also one of the greatest on 16-bit console! The switch from horizontal to vertical between levels is exciting, the bosses are excellent, the music is incredible and the arsenal is wonderfully diverse. Each stage is jam packed with beauty, creativity and charm. It's a marvel that frankly deserves much more praise than it often receives from the hardcore shump crowd! Theres not even any slowdown which for a Snes shooter is commendable! If you don't know this shooter, correct that error, you can thank me later!
