Emotionally detached parents are unhealthy versions of adults. They lack the maturity needed to be a healthy parent. For many years these parents neglect their children - emotionally and psychologically - and cannot be the parents they need to be.
Although you may have felt loved and cared for at times, that doesn't mean your parent was psychologically and emotionally involved in your life.
For those of you who feel that your parent was completely absent it is possible that they were emotionally and psychologically immature to a point of displaying behaviors consistent with a child. Perhaps you would consider your parents "friends" or "besties" and not loving and caring parents.
However you describe your parent this video attempts to highlight signs your parent wasn't (or isn't) available to you.
