8 E3 Games You Can Play Right Now | E3 2019 PC Game Demos
The worst thing about all the new E3 games is waiting for them to come out. Luckily, some E3 demos are available for all - we’ve gathered up all the new PC games at E3 offering demos, trials and betas to bring you the best games at E3 2019 you can play now. Sorry, Cyberpunk isn’t one of them.
Not all the games are free - as the video explains - but all are out now. One of the best PC games at E3 - if you like birds on skateboards - is Skatebird. It’s no relation to Tony Hawk, but do expect a joke or two about it. It’s a free PC demo, currently in alpha, available through itch where you can name your price if you wish. It also has a kickstarter, which is currently fully backed. So you can definitely get your hopes up for a more fleshed out birb experience.
Next up, we have Bloodroots, which is a pick-up-anythin-an-slash-em-up, from carrots to fish, you can literally wield any weapon. It’s a free PC demo, and all you have to do is sign up to the mailing list to get it. You only get one level, but it’s one level of gore and fun.
If that’s a bit too gory for you, how about Cris Tales? A hand-crafted JRPG, with serious Persona vibes. You can play about 40 minutes of this time-bending pile of cute, over on Steam right now, all for free. If you do decide to give it a go, you’ll even get a friendly yellow frog friend who wears a top hat. Win win.
Is it a pop up? Is it a virus? No! It’s Devolver Bootleg! For less than $5 you’ll be able to pick up and play some of your favourite Devolver games… Well, knock-off versions. The soundtrack is fun, the games are ridiculous, and if less than five dollars is still too much, it’s currently on sale on Steam, with a whopping 1% off!
If you’re thinking, yeah these are fine, but what about big, popular action games? Then how about Borderlands 2 new DLC: Commander Lilith & the Fight for Sanctuary? It’s free on Steam - but you have to own Borderlands 2 to play it - and sets the scene for the new Borderlands 3. Borderlands 3 E3 build gave us a hankering for more, and this will do nicely.
Or, how about one of the most exciting games from the PC Gaming Show E3 2019? Unexplored 2: The Wayfarers Legacy is available if you back it over on Fig, and it’s got to be one of the prettiest games on this list. Hard to believe I know, when we have Cris Tales here. It’s more of an introduction at the moment, but we’re excited to see where it goes.
If there hasn’t been enough heavy metal in any of these games, let me introduce you to Valfaris, which - yes, you’re right - isn’t a new announcement, but it was shown again this year at E3 2019’s PC Gaming Show. It counts, ok. It’s a free demo of Valfaris. It’s got heavy metal music, and heavy metal machinery, all whilst looking stunning with its pixel art.
Rounding off this list in true style with Roller Champions: a roller derby demo from Ubisoft that’s only running until June 14th. Yes, we’re cutting it fine, and apologies if you’re watching this a few days in the future. It’s fun, it’s silly, and it’s a bit like Rocket League with roller skates.
Let us know in the comments if you decide to give any of these E3 2019 games a go, and what you think of them. And do be sure to like the video, and subscribe to Rock Paper Shotgun. We’ve helpfully linked all of the places you can download the games below, so we hope you’ll have just as much fun playing them as we did.
