#826 King of Fighters Maximum Impact 2 (PS2) Hidden Characters (8/13): Nightmare Geese gameplay.
Gameplay of the hidden character Nightmare Geese in SNK’s King of Fighters Maximum Impact 2/King of Fighters 2006.
As you’ll see in the video, Geese has probably the biggest fanservice of all the hiddens in regards to his costumes. Firstly, he has his suit outfit. Oh, but a colour variation of his suit outfit is a variant which makes him look like Young Geese. Not only that, but he has two colour variations for his regular costume, one of which makes him look like Goenitz and another who makes him look like Mukai! Oh, and even Carmen Jones from Art of Fighting 3. Now there’s an obscure reference. It’s so weird and wacky and wonderful and goddamn do I love it. The gameplay of this title might not be the most stellar but goddamn is there a lot to love about it regardless.
Despite being Nightmare Geese, Geese here isn’t much like his Nightmare form. Indeed, he’s basically just his regular Geese form from KOF2002, with regular reppukens, a more defensive version of Raising Storm and a regular version of Evil Shadow Smasher, not to mention his reppuken functioning in the same way as well. Indeed, it’s rather apparent to me that the “Nightmare” honorific is simply yet another bit of fan service, but I suppose I’m not too fussed about that. It’s yet another Geese video, and that’s always fun. But yeah, this is regular Geese. Again. For the umpteenth time. It’s not even the last time we’ll see him, either. Overall, Geese does pretty well given that his Jaeiken here combos into nearly anything, and both his reppukens and his raising storm hit on-the-ground which means, you guessed, wonderfully cheap and elongated combos.
It's always good to play as Geese. Enough said, really. Still my favourite SNK character to this day.
Next up, it’s another character from Mark of the Wolves.
