#830 King of Fighters Maximum Impact 2 (PS2) Hidden Characters (12/13): Kim Kaphwan gameplay.
Gameplay of the hidden character Kim Kaphwan in SNK’s King of Fighters Maximum Impact 2/King of Fighters 2006.
As Kim was unceremoniously replaced in this series (by a character called Chae Lim no less), he makes an appearance as a hidden character in this title. Yeah, nearly all the hidden characters in this game are fanservice-y in this way, as if I haven’t emphasised that enough already. Kim has his standard moveset here but, eh, I swear there’s something not quite right about him. Some of the additional attacks in his special moves either having the most difficult timing I’ve ever seen or they just outright do not work. His dial-a-combos, when you can get them to work, are absolutely fantastic and seem to link into special moves perfectly. The problem, however, is that trying to get them to work consistently is so much more damn difficult than any other character I’ve played as in this game, it’s a little maddening. I actually forgot to show his anti-air kick, mainly because I couldn’t figure out any moves to interlink it with. Not a character I particularly enjoyed playing as, but I’m still glad they included him regardless.
Next time, we finish off MI2 with the strangest inclusion of them all.
