A Clean Install of Linux Fedora 32 [64 Bit] (Dell UEFI BIOS with Secure Boot)
Fedora is a Linux distribution based on Red Hat Linux. In this video I go through a Clean Install on Fedora 32 on an OptiPlex 7040 using a UEFI BIOS and Secure Boot. I then look at optimising touch settings for a Dell XPS 13 9365 2 in 1. This system also had native complete driver support and the touchscreen and auto-rotation worked out of the box. The main out of the box issues were the Touchpad was treated as a Mac Touchpad and had no right click which could easily be resolved using the tweaks tool. Due to Fedora taking a purist approach to open source software multimedia codecs are missing giving video playback issues within the FireFox browser. This can be rectified by installing Google Chrome (as Chromium also lacks these). I also do not like the windows not having a minimise and maximise button but this can also be fixed using the tweaks tool.
Comparison with Ubuntu/Mint on the XPS 13 9365. FireFox works with touchscreen and the touchscreen keyboard is better and slight more responsive in Linux Fedora 32 than Ubuntu 20.04 and much more usable than Linux Mint 20. Firefox did not work correctly with touchscreen in Linux Ubuntu 20.04 and Mint 20 (in these distros it highlights text instead of scrolling). Auto-rotation did not work correctly on Linux Mint (the screen rotates but the touch input didn't rotate with the screen).
Bugs: the touch keyboard does not automatically open when clicked into or pressed into the address bar or search window within Google Chrome.
