Another in the GameFromScratch.com Closer Look At Series ( http://www.gamefromscratch.com/page/Game-Engine-guides.aspx ), we take a look at Stencyl. This is a cross between a review, overview and getting started guide, that gives you an idea of whether a game engine is right for you.

Stencyl is a cross platform 2D game engine with an all in one world editing and includes most of the tools you need to make a complete 2D game. It is very beginner friendly and uses a visual programming system. For more experienced developers however there is the option to program using the Haxe programming language. Stencyl runs on Windows, Mac and Linux and can target those platforms plus Flash, Web, iOS and Android.

This video takes a look at whats included in Stencyl, what sample code looks like, the tools, documentation, etc... available. For a text based version of this please go to http://www.gamefromscratch.com/post/2015/07/20/A-Closer-Look-At-Stencyl.aspx
