I’ll say it right now, this is one of my favorite Call of Duty campaigns to date. It was intense, heartbreaking, amazingly well captured with phenomenal acting.
Much like Assassin’s Creed 3, this game breaks the barrier of being “just a game” by drawing inspiration from real life events, which was awesome and absolutely sucked at the same time.

Call of Duty WW2 follows Ronald Daniels aka Red, Zussman, Tech Sargent Pierson and LT Tuner into war, which for them, starts with D-Day….

But before we get into the rest of the story, let’s start with some of the things I didn’t like:
Some sound issues. Going back to main screen. Some of the music…

There was actually very little i didn’t like about the game, some delay in sounds, the lack of urgency in some of the lines during battle, hearing “first aid here” said calmly mid battle was more funny than serious for me and going back to the menu instead of just continuing on with the story got kind of annoying, which I guess was a nice way of saying “take a break.” Also one of things that help make a game great, is the music, there were times when the music didn’t quite fit in or didn’t help set the tone but of course, that’s just my opinion.

Before we get into the things I did like, I wanted to give a shoutout to GameFly, I’m not sponsored or anything but this video wouldn’t have been possible with them. Moving on!!!!

This game made me appreciate voice actors and actresses, the hard work, passion and dedication they put into their work. Call of Duty did decide to Hollywood with this game and cast the dude from Transformers, Josh Dua-something and Jonathan Tucker and both of them knocked out of the park. Josh did an incredible job as Pierson and managed to irritate the hell out of me but his performance made me enjoy the game even more. Every time he was onscreen, he completely crushed it and managed to get under my skin a few times. Great job Josh!

The other little things I liked were some of the different controls, like instead just pushing X or Y, you actually had to focus and move the stick from here to there, which did make me panic a little. I also thought not having the auto heal or health regeneration was a nice touch, having to ask or look for health kits and taking time to heal and recovery took out the ALL OR NOTHING and bum rushing type of gameplay I’m normally used to, almost completely out the game and made me rethink my strategy.

The story, motion capture, jaw dropping visuals, acting, gameplay and well written dialogue, makes this one of my favorite Call of Duty games and one I’m happy to give a solid 8/10.

I know a lot was heavily inspired by true events, I can’t say which parts they were exactly, but there were also a few time that it felt more like Michael Bay’s take on World War 2. Which was fun and over the top in good way.

Overall, without my little complaints here and there, it really was one of the best Call of Duty campaigns I ever got to experience and definitely one I plan on replaying in the near future…
But… for now… GTA San Andreas!!!
