5Kriegsfront Tactics is a Turn Based Tactics Mech game set in southeast Asia in the 1970s; think Vietnam + Mechs.
Ok.
A Light Mech RPG:
There is some light RPG planned in the form of allowing you to salvage or swap parts, equipment, and weapons on your mechs, as well as recruit new pilots, with their own skills and traits.
However, there is no current planned player customization of the pilots.
Shame, I hope the devs consider adding more RPG here, as next to mech customization, pilot skill ups and new learned traits is a major means of adding some real RPG depth here.
Destructible Terrain + Destructible Mechs!
I like how you can literally blow armor off the mechs; leaving them looking absolutely skeletal towards the end!
You can blast away trees providing cover too; even unleash rocket attacks to pelt and pound an area.
Remember: unless aimed, most attacks hit a random part of the mech, so if you want to target a specific point, you should take an aimed shot.
You can make aimed shots target specific parts on the body of the mech, taking off its limbs so it can’t use it’s big two hander gun, taking out its legs to slow it down, or go right for the core to put em down for good.
There is a linked AP system / move system, so you can attack multiple times each round if you got the AP for it.
Overwatch is present here as well, and only costs 1 AP; very generous.
Also, most units get 1 counter attack they can take, using some of the AP of their next turn; it is often a good idea.
Controller Support is planned for the full game, as I found it not fully functional in my testing.
Keyboard and Mouse however felt great, and that is what I used in the above video.
Note: This is an Early look at Kriegsfront Tactics so any bugs or other oddness is not representative of the final product.
Also note: in this early combat demo, there are only 2 static battle maps with no loot drops; while the main game is intended to have some element of Procedural Generation; so hopefully random maps and missions are coming.
Still, Kriegsfront Tactics is a fun, light Turn Based Tactics Mech game, and is easily well worth a wishlist and a watch.
