A Quite Enjoyable Top-down Shooter | Zombie Soup demo
1Hello everyone! A few more gameplays of demos coming from the Steam Next Fest, and this one is Zombie Soup. I start saying that it is a roguelite (because I saw it on the steam store page), but it's not, it is a pretty straightforward top-down shooter, and it is a lot of fun. The music is really cheerful, graphically it looks nice, the story is not that important in this kind of game, but it looks like it could be funny and the gameplay feels great.
The bad aspects of the game is that it might be too easy from the start (maybe the first 2 stages are supposed to be easy), but considering that I have infinite ammo (which is a pretty nice feature, don't get rid of it), I also can dodge and most enemies attack in melee range, it is not hard at all to avoid damage. And even when you get damage, you will find healing early enough to play most of the time at full hp. So maybe they should add enemies that can shoot projectiles or more melee enemies.
I would also like to be able to keep more than 2 guns, because you pick up a new gun, which doesn't have a lot of ammunition and doesn't deal that much damage, you use it for a couple of seconds and it's gone; and even if you save it, you can only have one so you will find a few more that you cannot pick up, then you use it and it's gone.
My personal complain about the game is that bosses are boring. They just have a lot of hp, summon more enemies and make the fight tiresome until they unleash a really powerful attack. Besides that, it didn't feel hard at all.
Btw, the skull's voice reminded me to the one from Control (the skeleton from the Threshold kids), but I could be wrong.
