Soon after the incident over Cape Landers, an unidentified ship is seen approaching the coast of Sand Island. Aware that the ship likely launched spy drones meant to perform aerial reconnaisance of Sand Island AFB, Wardog Squadron is sent out to intercept the drones and shoot them down before they return to the ship. However, as they do, squadron is attacked by another group of hostile aircraft, forcing them to defend themselves. As they shoot all hostiles down, a spy ship suddenly launches surface-to-air missile towards the squadron with Bartlett's plane being hit and severely damaged. Due to this, Bartlett decides to bail out of the plane while urging Blaze, Edge and Chopper to return to Sand Island and call a rescue chopper for him. Just then, AWACS contacts the squadron, ordering them to return to the base and rearm since Yuktobania has officially declared war against Osean Federation...
