Most Accolade titles have some difficult-to-break disk-based copy protection, so playing them in DOSBox can be troublesome on modern computers. Fortunately, Serve & Volley is one of the easier ones to get working and it's very unique as far as tennis games go since it actually plays kinda like an action/golf game of all things. :o

Alas, it's also one of those games that plays better with a friend rather than against the AI. A lot of early sports games on the PC were like that. :P

Additional Information and Corrections:

* When I say you can select the number of matches I meant to say you can select the number of sets. Tennis terms can be confusing sometimes. :P

* I'm not actually certain how the legalities work in terms of modifications to bypass copy protection. I imagine they fall under the same kinds of laws no-cd patches and such fall into. Using them for sake of convenience, or to actually permit you to play a game you own, doesn't really create any problems, it's only when people start distributing games in such states that problems arise.

* Actually, the copy protection in Serve & Volley is rather interesting. If the original disk is not detected, instead of stopping the game from working at all it simply forces the game into demo mode, meaning you can still watch the AI play itself, but you can't play the game yourself.

* Yes, the title music seriously sounds like that when played backwards. Kinda stops abruptly though.
