Just pure racing goodness - that's what you're going to experience in this new age of racing called Age of Speed. What you need to accomplish here is to become the champion racer. Select one of the four available cars with cool designs before starting the race. There's a requirement on each race that you must complete. You need to finish at least in 3rd place if you want to unlock the next race track. There are four races on each location so you better win in each one to qualify. To stack up some points, collect the gold coins on the race track.

Of all the different sorts of games out there, racing games are perhaps the most exhilarating. Let's face it, ninety nine percent of us will never get behind the wheel of a real powerhouse of a car and use it for racing. At the most, the fastest any average joe will drive is, what? maybe 80 mph on a freeway? Although it's usually far, far less. That's why racing games are excellent fantasies, they give you that rush of careening along at breakneck speeds without the actual risk of breaking your neck. So without further ado, let's take a look at Age of Speed.

Even at the title, you already know it's a racing game. The problem is, however, that with the sheer number of these games on the market, it's easy to dismiss new racing games as just being ho-hum derivatives of the basic formula. This is not the case with Age of Speed, as it delivers some excellent high-octane (well, perhaps not "octane", considering the futuristic nature of the game, but you get the idea), high-speed action.

The game is in 3D, and it looks great. It's not the same blah 3D that you see in other games, where they don't go the extra mile (or even the first few yards, for that matter) to make things look good. This game has excellent graphics, and everything has been done to great detail, making for some really impressive visuals. Everything from the track to the different cars all look quite spiffy, and when you add that to the variety of the tracks, you've got a real winner.

Even more than the graphics, you've got the music and sounds that really complete the aesthetic and ambiance of the game. The music is fast-paced, and the sounds really put you behind the wheel of your ride in this racer. Sure, the music may not be quite memorable, and you won't be humming the theme from it days down the road, but it has one job and it does that job well.

Now, the game has some excellent graphics and excellent sounds, but we all know that even with the best visuals and sound effects, a game is doomed if it doesn't do what games are supposed to do, and that is to entertain. The good thing is, Age of Speed does that job well and then some. Whereas many racing games give you boring, repetitive, and uninspired tracks, this game decides to forgo the laws of physics in favor of the rule of cool. You've got corkscrew turns, loop-de-loops, and other insane track features that wouldn't at all be possible on any sort of real-world track. And as improbable as they are, it really works. Going into banks and turns that are usually only the province of rollercoasters gives quite the adrenaline rush, and it'll keep you coming back for more and more each time.

And that just about wraps it up for this little review. Go on and grab yourself a download of Age of Speed now, and stay tuned to our playlist to have a look at more games in the Age of Speed series!
