Air India Fined For Denying Boarding To Passengers | India Development Debate
9Aviation regulator DGCA today fined Air India `10 lakh, after the airline was found guilty of denying boarding to confirmed passengers. A Show cause notice has also been issued to the airline and they have been asked to compensate passengers who were denied boarding even though they had valid tickets. But why is the aviation regulator acting now? What do the current regulations stipulate? If not given an alternate flight within 24 hours of being denied airlines should ideally be paying 400% of the basic fare plus fuel charges. However, the reality is far from this.
