Akimbot is a bit like Ratched & Clank, but with Shadow the HedgeBOT and Claptrap as characters mixed together. So it's a 3D Platformer with Third-Person-Shooter mixed in. You can play with with the Gamepad or Mouse and Keyboard. Honestly Mouse and Keyboard feels more intuitive for me, but i played it with my Gamepad on the Video. I later towned down the Autoaim, since the standard setting feels a little intrusive.
The level design isn't as good as in Ratched & Clank. The paths you go are going mostly forward, with some forking paths to find collectibles. But the level design still works, there is enough variety, where the level design and the enemies offer different challenges.

Throughout the Game you get different weapons, where the main weapons have a recharging ammo capacity and also one special Weapon, that uses Energy, which only gets replenished when you collect blue orbs. You can carry one out of four special weapons and these weapons are upgradable, so they hit harder than the main weapons.

I would say Akimbot is for people who want some action that they quickly can pick up, but also have a ongoing and forwarding story.
