First up- an apology for the watermark obscuring a large area of the video, recording this required editing to get the game to fill the screen as the original recording had a lot of empty space around it.

I've long known about this game thanks to years of endless Youtube Poops endlessly riffing it's poor quality cutscenes which seems to be what everyone knows this game for. But what about the gameplay itself?

Actually, it's not so bad, if a bit basic for a Mario game. You go around as Mario and you have to move between the different floors of a hotel, closing all the doors to move to the next stage. There are familiar enemies to battle and familiar power-ups to help you in your quest.

It does get quite difficult fairly quickly- and losing my Fire Flower in the video put me at a severe disadvantage against the Wigglers, who are a real bloody nusiance to deal with without it- and also the Morton boss battle is made harder by the fact he can enter the elevators, usually while you're using them yourself and he ends up eating you.

But overall, this game is nowhere near as bad as it's reputation suggests and I have played many games that are so much worse than this. Give it a try, if you can stomach the nightmare of trying to emulate the Philips CD-i, it took me long enough to get this working.
