Alfred Tries To Play: Keio Flying Squadron (Sega Mega-CD)
0Here's a game that takes it's weirdness and absolutely runs with it. In this gloriously silly shooter, you control a girl in a bunny suit (for some reason, never mind that it's hardly combat appropriate) who flies a dragon and must defeat an evil, super-intelligent raccoon. I told thee this was weird!
If you've ever played any of the Parodius games, this can effectively be described as Sega's answer to it with a whole bunch of bizarre enemies to defeat. Other than that it's a fairly standard shooter, and this is one game you don't want the spread shot power-up as your firing rate with it is reduced to almost nothing. Nevertheless, this is a very entertaining game and the art style is very nice too.
A sequel on the Sega Saturn, Keio Flying Squadron 2 followed. Despite the title however, the sequel was a platformer, so it should really have been called something like Keio Infantry Platoon instead, but hey, as I just established above, nothing here makes much sense!
